Did You Know You Can Donate Securities?

Did you know that donating publicly listed securities such as stocks, bonds, or mutual funds is one of the most tax-effective ways to support Story Money Impact? When appreciated securities are donated directly to a registered charity, the capital gains tax on those investments can be eliminated. This means your gift may go further while reducing your taxes.

A donation of securities helps Story Money Impact continue bringing documentary stories to communities across Canada through film screenings, conversations, and community engagement work.

Why This Type of Gift Matters

Gifting publicly traded securities can be one of the most efficient ways to support SMI. Since these donations are not subject to capital gains tax, more of your contribution goes directly toward supporting communities, strengthening relationships, and sharing stories that matter.

Many donors are surprised by how simple the process is and how much impact a securities gift can create.
